CCTV And Why Your Business Needs It In 2023

CCTV and Why You Need It for Your Business If you’re interested in learning more about CCTV and why you need it for your business, you’ve come to the right place. In today’s society, rising inflation is causing businesses to ramp up their security. CCTV stands for closed circuit television, which means that it is monitored locally and not distributed elsewhere. PRO TIP: Please read our blog post to learn when to consider an access control system. The Main Selling Points With CCTV And Any Security Systems One of the main selling points it that CCTV security cameras can deter theft. These cameras aren’t invisible which means that anyone coming into your business can see them. Many times, the visual of a camera is all that is needed to deter theft.  Visible Security Cameras Always Help Regardless of the size of the business, visible security cameras can help. If there is an incident requiring police, the video from these security cameras can provide much needed assistance to the business whether it be in video or audio. In many cases, having CCTV security can provide a piece of mind for a new or longtime business owner. With such major enhancements in computers nowadays, footage can be viewed from anywhere, such as a computer, phone or tablet. This should make using the CCTV a piece of cake.  Keep Employees & Customers Safe Another great benefit of utilizing CCTV in business is the safety and security it not only grants your employees but also patrons of the business. Customers will feel safer knowing there are security cameras in the establishment but also in the parking lots and outside entrances.  Enhance Customer Satisfaction In addition to customer safety, cameras are a great way to increase customer satisfaction. Footage can be used to view customer interaction, busy times in the checkout line, package deliveries or even a large group before opening. Improve Productivity & Efficiency In the case of multiple locations, cameras can help detect why one business is more profitable than the other.  These can not only increase profit but also increase efficiency. In cases where the business has valuable merchandise, CCTV can provide high levels of security for a fraction of the cost of older systems. These savings could allow business owners to increase the number of cameras, or invest in other important equipment. Catch Employee Theft In Action On the other hand, these security enhancements could allow businesses to catch potential employee thefts in addition to normal thefts. CCTV has the potential to increase employee productivity if the staff knows that the cameras are being monitored for performance. Just the thought of being watched by the boss might make someone work harder. Ability To Review Footage From Along with employee thefts, security cameras are an easy way to catch any sexual harassment in the workplace. If the cameras aren’t monitored, the victim may be able to point to a specific date or time and the business can review the footage.  CCTV Is A Cost-Effective Solution For You Business’s Security Needs CCTVs in businesses cost way less than the salaries of security guards monitoring the premises for 24 hours a day. Instead of having someone walking around verifying the physical space, an employee can just rewatch the footage from the day before if there were any issues. Just having cameras instead of guards eliminates the human error that can occur if a guard was in the wrong area and couldn’t get somewhere fast enough. CCTV’s Offer A Birds Eye View Of Your Business These cameras instead would be able to provide a bird’s eye view of the entire business on a few screens if necessary. In the case of slip and falls and other disputes, CCTV’s make the difference in whether the facts are presented even if there are no witnesses. If the CCTV system is set up correctly, they can provide beginning to end surveillance for any incident requiring footage.  Insurance Benefits Of CCTV Installation Businesses might also benefit from their insurance company if they have CCTV installed. These security systems provide much needed support for the internal components of owning a business.  Advanced Technologies With newer CCTV systems, businesses can purchase audio and night vision. Installers can personalize however the business feels is necessary to meet their needs. Audio can be a benefit in more ways than one, such as a customer dispute or a employee accident. Night vision can be beneficial in areas such as parking lots where there may not be much light. Additionally, new technology has the ability to only alert If motion is detected. Even though this could be annoying to some, it will still save time.  Sometimes CCTV Is Required In some fields of business, cameras are required, which can be a blessing in disguise due to the reasons above. CCTVs will not only save a business money but can also save lots of time. Not only will the boss not have to worry about an employee slacking off, but they can rest assured that if there is a robbery, the culprit could be more easily identified.  CCTV’s Are Very Beneficial In 2023 Throughout the years, crime has escalated along with crazy lawsuits. Can CCTV Be Connected To Your Smartphone As we develop our security systems, they are becoming more advanced than ever. Everything is becoming high tech and becoming easier to manage than ever before. You can connect your CCTV to your smartphone with literally the click of a button. Connecting CCTV To A Smartphone All you are going to need is an app one your phone that will pick up what is known as your IP address. This app will also stream your wireless internet or your router. You could be across the country or even world and be able to check your security cameras.  This has made life much more convenient and easier. However, with the advancement in technology, we are going to have issues with hackers. We are going to talk about how you can keep track of your security systems and know all the risks involved.  Connecting Your Smartphone to Your Security Cameras  If you would like to see your security footage away from the premises, you can connect it to your phone. All you need to do is download an app. This works as long as your security cameras are high-quality cameras. Luckily, today, with the advancement in technology, almost all security cameras can be hooked up to your smartphone.  You can even link your cameras to other smart devices such as a tablet or another computer as well. Keep in mind that some systems only are supported with iOS or android, not both. Some systems will be able to be used with both. It is best to do some research before you purchase a security system, so you are able to use it on your phone without problems.  Linking Your Phone to Your Security Cameras via Wi-Fi  The first thing that you need to do is make sure that you have the security system app downloaded on your phone. If you do not have it downloaded, that is the first thing you must do. Once it is downloaded, you can launch the app.  Another Thing You Can Do The second thing that you must do is add your security cameras to the application. You will use either the QR code or a model code to do this.  Once you have linked your security cameras to your phone, you should be able to click on the camera that you linked to watch live feed on your camera.  The Next Steps Once you are done with setting up your system, you can now go in and set configurations. This includes any motion detections, what alerts you receive, and other monitoring requirements that you deem necessary.  Keep in mind that all systems are different, and some systems may require more information or steps to setup to your phone. Take the time to read what comes with your specific security system before setting it up with your phone.  What If I Cannot See my CCTV on the Phone? There are going to be times where you are unable to see your live security footage on your phone. The first thing that you should be doing is checking your router. There is a possibility that the connection was interrupted. We are going to talk about a few things that you should do when you are unable to view the footage from your phone.  You need to make sure that internet is working on both ends. This means that you need to ensure that the internet is working where the security cameras are and where you are with your phone. If there is an internet issue, resetting your routers will help do the trick most of the time.  The Other Thing To Do The second thing you need to make sure is that the IP address is the same. If your provider has changed the IP address, you are not going to get a connection on your phone. This is often not the case because providers will usually change the IP address when you are not paying the internet bills. To ensure that the IP address is the same, make sure that you are comparing the IP address. All you need to do is google the phrase what is my IP address, and you should find it. Make sure that the app IP address and the one displayed are the same. If they are not, be sure to call your internet provider.  If you are still having trouble, try to reboot your routers and the CCTV system. Once everything is rebooted, try connecting again. If you have done all of the above and are still having problems, you should call customer service.  Wrapping Up: Can CCTV Be Connected To Mobile? With technology advancing ever so quickly, we are now able to view security footage on our phones. We never used to be able to do that. Everything was on-site and never mobile. If you are looking for a way to get this in your building or office, contact Comtex in New Jersey. Here is Comtex and our business location below: You should now have a better understanding of your question can CCTV be connected to mobile and we wish you all the best.

Comtex Surveillance System Saves Client $$ and Aggravation!

One of our existing clients, who chooses to remain anonymous but allowed us to post this story, invested in a surveillance system purchased and installed by Comtex. An employee, who was being disciplined with the intent of termination, had claimed to have been injured at a specific location and time. Our client reviewed the video footage and found no evidence that this “injury” occurred. Our client showed it to the insurance company and they denied the claim. Our client told us that footage “saved them from losing thousands of dollars.” This same client, in the following month, had an employee who was moving some welding gas tanks in an unsafe way. The client had reviewed the footage and after confronting the employee with the evidence of his unsafe actions, he accepted termination without complaint. Our client wrote us and stated: “It turns out that the decision to purchase the system, made for completely different reasons, has benefited us in unexpected ways. Often I find that decisions I struggle with considering what I think are the important factors turn out better or worse because of things I didn’t anticipate.” If you have an interest in a video surveillance system, please visit our website at www.comtex-nj.com or callus at 201-935-2000

Using Cameras to Stop Drivers from Illegally Passing Stopped School Buses

Iowa is looking to purchase CCTV cameras to help enforce an Iowa law that increased penalties for drivers who illegally drive past a school bus if it is stopped on a road. The law, typically referred to as Kadyn’s Law, suspends a driver’s privileges for 30 days for a first conviction, increasing it to 90 days for a second conviction and 180 days for a third conviction. The law was promulgated in response to the 2011 death of 7-year-old Kadyn Halverson, who was hit by a car when she was crossing the road to board a school bus. Randy Meyer, who oversees transportation  at Mason City and Clear Lake schools, believes an exterior camera on school buses are needed to assist in identifying more violators. Without the camera, it is hard to identify a car when the violation occurs because they drive by so fast. Only about 10% of drivers who pass the buses illegally get reported to the police. If a license plate can be captured on video, a potential violator may think twice and stop. www.comtex-nj.com 201-935-2000

If you ever have a crime committed in the building, you will be able to check the footage from the DVR to find out who was entering the building at what time. CCTV Surveillance and Access Control Systems

CCTV And Access Control: Crime Fighting and Prevention Tools A CCTV video surveillance camera system provides a significant function in our society because these systems fight and prevent crimes.  CCTV surveillance systems installed in public areas help deter crime, help civilians feel much safer, provide the police with leads or evidence as well as improve the surroundings of a crime-stricken neighborhood. Nowadays, most of these systems have been made digital for improved performance, easy maneuverability of the surveillance camera and produce faster feedback as compared to the analog systems. Some Businesses Can’t Afford These Devices There are some cases wherein businesses or other establishments cannot initially afford all the necessary components of these devices. However, many CCTV providers recommend that this dilemma can be solved by putting some CCTV equipments in places where constant observance and security matters most. Such places include the entrance, the exit and the cashier counter. In the succeeding years, extra surveillance cameras may be added as the budget allows. What Modern CCTV Systems Are Composed Of A modernized digital CCTV surveillance system is composed of hardware and software components which gather and transmit important surveillance camera data over fiber optic lines to control rooms run by security professionals who view digital CCTV monitors. DVRs can save CCTV data for long periods of time and a system can also use motion detection technology. This technology is exceptional because footage is are only recorded when motion triggers the DVR system. Digital CCTV cameras range from compact cameras, fixed cameras to direction-controlled ones that can distinguish objects in the dark under different lighting conditions. Surveillance camera system makers have to know what kind of purpose each surveillance camera must accomplish. Fixed cameras are usually used for the main purpose of watching the flow of people passing by while dome cameras with PTZ functions are used for monitoring a crime-targeted place. The ones who make these systems also need to think about weatherproofing their surveillance cameras especially if the cameras are going to be mounted in extremely harsh climates whether hot or cold, or if the viewing areas are normally obscured by dust or dirt. Installing CCTV And Access Control Systems Is An Important Investment The presence of CCTV video surveillance camera system in this day and age has helped in significantly reducing crimes as well as solving them. In many circumstances wherein a CCTV surveillance system is in place, wrongdoers commonly shy away from these monitored places because they fear prosecution and any recorded images involving their presence can be used in court. Security is a top concern these days. Comtex can help keep your business and employees in a safer environment with an access control system from DSX Access Systems. Operated by keypads, cards or biometrics (fingerprints), an access control system gives you full control over who is allowed access through any controlled point, including revolving doors, turnstiles, gates and barriers, at any time of any day. Any Business Can Consider Access Control Solutions Any facility with multiple employees or tenants should consider access control. Keys offer little security, as they can easily be lost, stolen or duplicated. You also have no audit trail of people who enter your facility or when and if they exit. Realizing this, more and more business and multi-tenant buildings of all sizes are utilizing access control systems. With access control, if a card or code is lost, stolen, or compromised or an employee is terminated, they can easily be deleted from the system. When needed, the system can give you reports of who went where and when. It’s Necessary To Be Cautious In today’s need for increased security, an access control system will give you control over your premises, along with peace of mind for your employees and tenants. For added security, integrate the award winning EasyLobby software with your DSX access control system. The EasyLobby visitor management system provides comprehensive, enterprise-class visitor registration, tracking, reporting and badge printing, as well as web-based pre-registration by employees.
