CCTV System Cabling

CCTV System Cabling

To ensure clear and superior camera images, your commercial CCTV system requires quality cabling to prevent video degradation over long distance runs. CCTV systems require cabling to transmit video images to the DVR or NVR. Getting it right depends on the best combination of skilled people, quality products, and exceptional performance.

Analog cameras require coax cable to connect analog cameras to a DVR. However, they cannot exceed 750 in length; if the video path is any longer, the image will degrade. Unlike ethernet cables that provide power when connected to a POE switch, coax cables do not supply power to the camera. That means 2 cables are required, one for power and one for video transmission.

NVRs require ethernet cabling, which provides significant advantages over coax cabling. The cable is thinner and more flexible than coax cable. Ethernet cabling supplies power to connected cameras, eliminating the need for an additional power line. Also, network switches allow Ethernet wiring to reach longer distances without diminishing image quality.

The Comtex cabling team tests and certifies the integrity of each cable according to current industry standards. Our cabling installations provide performance, reliability, and investment protection.
