Voice Data & Video Cabling in NJ and NYC

Today, your network cabling carries the lifeblood of your organization; information. Cable networks are the medium that connects users to their voice, data and video systems. Your wiring infrastructure is of far greater importance than the hardware connected to it. Without a robust cabling system in place, your network can fail or be compromised, drastically affecting productivity. Implementing the right structured cabling system is imperative to achieve optimum performance from your telephone, surveillance and access control equipment. It is imperative that your network infrastructure is properly designed, installed and tested for performance. Since 1959, Comtex has provided clients with complete cabling infrastructures for video surveillance, telephone and access control systems. We utilize all types of cabling products and we specialize in the design and implementation of voice, data and video cabling. All cabling is professionally installed by our trained technicians. We provide a FREE on site cabling assessment, design and quote. Getting it right depends on the best combination of skilled people, quality products and exceptional performance. Each cabling project is specifically designed for that client and the demands of their network and equipment. Our initial on-site survey and consultation is offered at no charge enabling you to take full advantage of our expertise and experience. Our technicians are well trained on industry cabling standards and they certify the integrity of each cable according to current industry standards.  Our wiring installations provide performance, reliability, and investment protection for your company. With bandwidth increasing and reliance on the network at an all time high, getting information to where it needs to be is becoming more challenging than ever. Ask any IT Manager what their most common network problem is and you will most likely hear them complain about cabling issues. In fact, cabling problems, which account for over 50% of network problems, cost companies millions annually. The most common problems are: • Low attenuation • Poor NEXT (near-end crosstalk) • Poor ACR (attenuation-to-crosstalk ratio) • Poor delay skew (data arrives at different times) • Impedance • Poor return loss (also known as “echo”) • Poor ELFEXT (equal-level far-end crosstalk) numbers for cable, connecting hardware and channel • Splices in cable • Mis-labeled cables • Video degradation over long distance runs All of these problems can be avoided if the cabling is installed and tested properly. The cable must be installed following strict and specific guidelines and the testing must be done using the right equipment calibrated for the latest standards (called certification). Testing and certification are the most important steps in any cable installation. Connecting the network equipment and verifying that it works is not enough. Category 5e and Category 6 certification requires special testing equipment called scanners. Every cable and connector that we install is scanned and a printed report is provided verifying compliance to the Category 5e and Category 6 standards. What is the Difference Between SIP Trunking and VoIP?

Confused about just what is the difference between SIP trunking and VoIP? How are they related and what are the differences? In simplest laymen’s terms we will provide the practical answer. VOIP “voice over IP” is a generic term used to cover all voice traffic over the internet protocol. SIP trunking is simply voice over IP, using the SIP signaling protocol, but instead of using a single SIP user the service provider is providing many. Basically like a T1 circuit, but using voip with multiple trunks. The Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) is an application-layer control (signaling) protocol for creating, modifying, and terminating sessions with one or more participants. It can be used to create two-party, multiparty, or multicast sessions that include Internet telephone calls, multimedia distribution, and multimedia conferences. Voice over Internet Protocol, also called VoIP, IP Telephony, Internet telephony, Broadband telephony, Broadband Phone and Voice over Broadband is the routing of voice conversations over the Internet or through any other IP-based network. SIP in some cases is a Type of VoIP. … Since SIP is Session Initiation Protocol, and is a form of VOIP, it is used as a digital voice emulator/PRI replacement. It gives VOIP service more capabilities, such as DID’s (Direct Inward Dial numbers).  The benefit of this service on the commercial level is the ability to avoid buying a PRI card to accommodate a PRI. SIP trunks usually require SIP licenses and connect right to the system. SIP  trunks  are typically more cost effective than copper or t-1 circuits. At Comtex, we have clients who have upgraded to SIP trunks and the savings from the SIP trunks, paid for a new Samsung system in the first year of use. SIP trunks are essentially have the power of PRI without the cost or limitations. SIP is only limited by your bandwidth, and carriers are coming up with some pretty interesting options. This will be an area that many will need to become more familiar with, especially in the call center world. For free assistance in finding a SIP or VoIP solution for your business, please contact Comtex. We offer a no risk and free carrier and telephone system evaluation. For over 50 years, we have specialized in the design, installation and service of Digital & VoIP telephone systems and video surveillance systems. Free site survey. 24/7 emergency service.
